The visitors did a job and what a smash and grab it was.
Colton had all the play in the first half. They scored after 9 minutes, when Nyasha Malaba planted the ball home after a lovely ball to him from James Green. Colton’s play was on the front foot and they had plenty of possession and created oodles of opportunities to be streets ahead of Ealandians but they missed them. On 27 minutes, the visitors equalised with a scruffy goal from a corner.
Half time 1 – 1
The second half was more even; Ealandians looked dangerous on the counter; Colton threatened as they went 442.
Colton regained the lead on 63 minutes when Chris Hick played in Danny Coates who placed the ball superbly into the low corner. That should have been the catalyst for Colton to go on and win the game; it wasn’t.
They conceded 2 minutes later (another scrappy goal) and then despite creating other numerous chances to see Ealandians off they suffered a sucker punch with 12 minutes left as the visitors hit their winner from distance.
Final score 2 – 3
