Leeds Medics Res 0 – 5 Colton Athletic

Thanks to Medics for their after-match refreshments.

Colton produced a very strong and professional performance to give them their 6th league win of the season.

On a super grass surface at Weetwood, Colton struck early. Charlie Storey found Danny Coates who promptly hit a low pass to Chris Hick for a close-range tap in. 0 – 1 on 5 minutes.

This set the tone for the visitors who passed the ball quickly and purposefully. Medics also played the ball on the deck; however, Colton kept their high tempo up and scored their second on 15 minutes.

Joe Horner’s free kick was met by Tom Whelan who leapt ‘salmon like’ to head in.

It was a very good first half for Colton, although Medics had a decent spell toward the whistle when they had the momentum, but nothing came of their corners that Colton defended well.

Half time 0 – 2

The early stages of the second period was more even in terms of possession, and Medics had a great chance to reduce the deficit, however the ball went over the ball from close range.

That gave Colton a lift and they extended their lead when Cam O’Connor scored from an acute angle after being put through by Coates. Coates then got Colton’s fourth ten minutes later with a super strike after Brandon Bennett Whitmore played him in. 0 – 4 on 79 minutes.

Two minutes later, Tom Welsh scored Colton’s fifth with a crisp left footed shot, though no-one knows how the full back ended up in the opposing box in the first place!

Medics kept playing their passing game and almost pulled a goal back; however, the striker’s shot was well saved low down by Adam Hartley.

It was a good afternoon for the East Leeds outfit who host Leeds Independent next week.

Final score Leeds Medics 0 - 5 Colton.
