Four second half goals for Colton put paid to Morley’s ten man resistance after they lost a player in the early stages of the match.

Colton lead on 13 minutes when James Green played in Chris Hick to rifle home first time.

Despite playing with a man less, Morley gave a good account of themselves and troubled the Colton rearguard on a few occasions.

Colton created good opportunities, however the Morley ‘keeper made some good stops and kept Morley in the game. Tom Whelan hit the bar from close range after a floated free kick from Josh Naylor; other shots that Colton had were off target.

Morley were very much on target in the 38th minute when they equalized making it 1 - 1 at the half time oranges.

After a productive discussion at half time, Colton regained the lead on 49 minutes when Jordan Thackery’s low cross was struck home by a Morley defender.

Shortly afterwards, Danny Coates scored when he went on a mazy run and beat the ‘keeper low down. 3 – 1 on 53 minutes.

Morley kept battling and created some chances of their own. Particularly when Adam Hartley saved brilliantly from a long strike; then Ben Vickers cleared a shot off the line.

Colton scored their fourth goal with 74 minutes on the clock. Thackery hit a low drive into the far corner and with 7 minutes left Thackery was at it again to make the score 5 -1.

The two teams play against each other next week.
