This fixture was played in Golcar as their home match.
After 3 straight wins, Colton suffer 3 straight losses and this division is testing their physical and tactical approach.
Golcar had the momentum from early on, and scored on 19 minutes. Colton tried to respond, however their passing and pressurising was poor. It was 2 – 0 on 29 minutes as a header went in from a corner.
Colton did get the ball in the net after some neat link up play, however Danny Coates was harshly adjudged to be offside.
Golcar had the pace and physicality to out muscle Colton and they scored 2 more goals within the closing stages of the half. One of these was from the spot, however the Colton defender clearly won the ball before the Golcar striker went down.
On the stroke of half time, Colton hit the post when James Green slid in from close range only to see the ball bounce away.
Half time 4 – 0
A couple of substitutes after half time gave Colton a little more purpose, and they played better. Maybe this was due to a combination of Golcar easing off and Colton raising their game - they had to after the first 45 minutes.
They began to find some space behind and their defence was more resolute which limited Golcar to long range efforts.
Despite having more of the ball, Colton didn’t create any clear cut openings, with the hosts dealing with the attacks that Colton had. However, they did get a consolation goal on 85 minutes when Coates fired in from an acute angle.
Result 4 - 1

This was a performance to learn from for Colton as they prepare for the trip to Prospect next week.
