Hancock Cup Quarter Final
On a very good pitch the match was even in terms of score line until the 80th minute.
Both teams played it on the deck and whilst there was good possession, shots were at a premium.
Colton went close when Jono Goodwin’s effort was palmed away by the Huddersfield keeper. The resulting corner came to nothing. Huddersfield had a one v one but their player dragged his shot wide. Colton created a couple of more opportunities and looked the most likely to score but the hosts keeper was in superb form.
Half time 0 - 0
On sixty minutes, Colton pressed and retained the ball better. They created numerous chances but again the Huddersfield keeper was stopping all that was thrown at him.
With ten to play, penalties were looming but Danny Coates had other ideas. A lovely weighted through ball by Chris Hick found Coates on the edge of the box. Coates found the net eventually from close range after holding off the defenders challenge.
Two minutes later Coates scored again as a Colton free kick wasn’t cleared properly.
Huddersfield made Colton work very hard today. They almost pulled one back as a screamer hit the bar which would have made the last few minutes very interesting.
Final score 0 - 2 and on to the Semi - Finals.
The draw to be held 14.01.2019
