Trinity fought and played very well. Their play deserves far more than their league position, and it wasnt until the 67th minute Colton could relax. In a fairly quiet and slow first half, Colton scored on 6 minutes, when Danny Coates provided the lay off for Tom Whelan to strike from the edge of the box.

After that, Trinity pressed harder and caught Colton on the counter a couple of times, though Joe Horner marshalling the defence kept Trinity out. Colton however had ideas of their own to extend the lead. Firsty, Chris Wayman, hit the bar with a header, Jono Goodwin hit the post twice and plenty more chances were created but off target or the wrong decision was made.

Ten minutes before half time, Trinity equalised when a swift counter attack which saw a close range header hit the Colton net. Half time 1 - 1.

Amongst many others there were 2 key words during the half time team talk, increased & tempo. With a shuffle of the pack, Colton regained the lead on 56 minutes when Wayman headed home from a Goodwin cross. Seven minutes later, it was 1 - 3. Ben Vickers shot was too hot for the Trinity goalkeeper and Josh Naylor slotted home in the top corner from the rebound.

On 67 minutes Colton scored their fourth . A sublime pass from Joe Drake found Danny Coates. His shot was saved well but Max McCormick was on hand to score into an empty net. 1 - 4 the increased tempo was working well.

Trinity kept at it. A long range effort hit the Colton bar with Adam Hartley stranded as the hosts looked for a way back into the game. Coltons Goodwin shot just over, Chris Hick supplied a low cross that neither Coates nor Naylor were able to latch onto. But with 5 minutes to go, a questionable penalty was awarded to Trinity. Hartley who is excellent at penalty saves proved this again, with another good save only to be beaten from the follow up and goal line scramble.

Final score 2 - 4. Colton host Horsforth St Margarets from the Premier Division next week in the Yorkshire Sheild Tournament a break from league action.
