For the third time this season, these two teams met. As in previous meetings, Littletown put out a vastly changed team from previous matches.

Littletown had a lot of possession, but didn’t really do much with it. Colton soaked it up and countered, with Josh Naylor, Tom Whelan and Chris Hick pulling the strings to support Danny Coates.

Coates went very close on two occasions; his header going fractionally wide and then he had a shot scrambled off the line. The Colton defence dealt with whatever Littletown threw at them which wasn’t a great deal. Adam Hartley had a few crosses to deal with.

However, a goal out of nowhere for Littletown came on 30 minutes; and jolted Colton into more life.

Four minutes later, Colton equalised when Hick chased down a partially cleared ball and Coates was on hand to score.

Half time 1 – 1.

Although Littletown had a couple of attacks, Colton dominated the second half.

They played much better than in the first half. They were more assertive, their passing was crisper and they created opportunities.

Chances came and went. The stand-in Littletown ‘keeper made some good saves to keep the visitors out. Late on, a Colton corner was headed just wide by Whelan. At the death, Colton could have won it, however the chance went begging.

The home team held out for a draw. It was a frustrating result for Colton. Next week they travel to Fairbank for a very very tasty encounter.
