Morley 1 - 5 Colton
Colton were 0 – 3 up at half time, but the first half was more difficult than the scoreline suggests.
Morley had the lion’s share of events in the first 20 minutes and made Colton work very hard to keep them out.
Eventually, Colton grew into the game, and scored two quick goals. The first came from Danny Coates as he scored from close in after good work from Jordan Thackery. The second, a minute later on 29 minutes, was an own goal as James Green created havoc in the Morley box and his low cross went in off a Morley leg.
Morley tried to get back at Colton, however couldn’t quite create that clear opening that they needed.
Eight minutes before half time, Coates got his second when Josh Naylor’s sharp thinking put Coates through from a quickly taken throw in. Half time 0 – 3.
A little more composure and good use of the ball enabled Colton to create a few more shooting opportunities in the second half, but Leon in the Morley net was in fine form to keep them out.
However, on 76 minutes and 83 minutes, Colton stretched their lead with goals from Chris Hick. Adam Kinghorn supplied the ball for the first; Joe Drake the supporting player for Hick’s second.
Shortly before the final whistle, Morley got a consolation goal making the final score 1 – 5.
Colton host Shire next week.
