West End Park 4 - 2 Colton AFC 3rds

Colton 3rds lost their first game of the season this week and to be honest it was probably a fair result as we didn’t show up in the first half, West end park scored their first goal from a free kick within 5 minutes of the start and had the majority of possession in the early stages.

Colton’s back 4 withstood long periods of attacking threat doing well not to concede a second until west end park grabbed a second late on in the first half, Colton had to get their act together fast and started the second half better than the first and started creating the odd chance.

Still the game was shy of any real quality from both sides. Colton conceded again from a mix up at the back and it looked like game over! Colton made a change and within minutes had a goal back, a free kick curled around the wall and there was hope of a comeback!!

5 minutes later and Colton won a penalty a good run down the left creating trouble for the opposition defence and a chance to get back into the game. Lewis Rothery made no mistake with the penalty and with 20 minutes to play the comeback looked in sight!

For the next 20 minutes the game went back to being scrappy and time passed by with no more chances for Colton to get the equaliser. As it happened it was west end park who finished the game off with another set piece from the edge of the area looping over the keeper and straight into the back of the net. Colton need to toughen up and learn from this first loss quickly.
